Description
- Acetone is the lowest molecular weight member of the ketone family of solvents, low boiling, fast evaporating, colourless and stable liquid.
- Acetone have possesses excellent solvent power for most natural and synthetic resins including acrylics, vinyl polymers, mitrocellulose, acete, and other cellulose derivatives, it is a popular and effective low-boiling solvent for surface coating applications.
- Since most waxes, oils, fats, grease and dye materials are soluble in Acetone, it is ideally suitable for extraction media and other end uses.

Application
- Acetone finds applications in the manufacture of Acetone rayon, photographic films, smokeless powder, artificial leather, dopes, cements and paint remover and as absorbent for compressed acetylene.
- A large quantity of Acetone also serves as a raw material and/or intermediate in the production of other chemicals, such as methacrylate resins, pharmaceuticals, bisphenol A and solvents.
- Application for Acetone as a solvent include printing inks, adhesives cleaning and pharmaceuticals and in solvent extraction from seeds, bones and fish.
